Cutting edge lab testing continues to advance exponentially. Like any physician or scientist, Dr. Rob believes it is important to look at the data, and enjoys the process of making sense of it for the benefit of his patients. However, he also believes that lab testing is only a guide, and that listening to symptoms with a keen concern and holistic focus is the most important factor in diagnosing and treating illness.
In that sense, we might say that we doctors did a better job at medicine before we came to rely so heavily on testing as black and white indications of normal versus abnormal. During most of the time my grandfather used to practice medicine, for example, there was no “TSH” test to measure thyroid function, and so he had to rely on what they still teach in medical school at least- paying attention to the patient and their signs and symptoms.
Nonetheless, with the right balance between objective testing and subjective attention to individual concerns, the true art of medicine can still be achieved. Some of the testing we employ includes:
- Basic Blood Chemistry, Cholesterol, and Blood Sugar Indicators
- Hormone Levels for Men and Women through Blood, Saliva, and Urine
- Other Hormone Testing such as Thyroid, Adrenals, Growth Hormone, and Melatonin
- Nutritional Testing
- Genetic Testing
- Telomere Testing
- Heavy Metal Testing
- Mold/ Mycotoxin Testing
- Testing for Environmental Toxins
- Stool Testing for Digestive Imbalances
- Food Allergy Testing
