Meet Dr. Koorjee

Journey Into Medicine

I was born and raised in a small farming community in Oregon, with the freedom to roam and encouragement to explore this beautiful world. Living on a small farm, where we tended to our garden and animals (chickens, cows, goats, rabbits, and more!), in rhythm with the cycles each season would bring, established within me a strong connection with nature and a deep appreciation for the interconnectedness between us all.

I then attended Santa Clara University in California on a full-ride basketball scholarship which instilled a level of dedication I had not yet practiced and opened my mind to a much bigger universe.

After undergrad I set out for many months which turned into years to explore other cultures across the world. Living on organic farms and at an orphanage volunteering. I wondered what the world needed and where my place was in it. And it was on these journeys that I felt strongly my path was either in the medical field or in education.

On my travels, I discovered Naturopathic Medicine and went on to graduate with the highest academic honors from the Southwest College of Naturopathic Medicine in Tempe, Arizona. I continue to be on this journey to discover what health is, it’s depth and what it really means to me. I am so excited to be practicing medicine and engaged in empowering one’s ability to restore and optimize their own health.

Approach to Care

My approach is grounded in creating a safe environment for patients. Combining tools and wisdom drawn from both eastern and western philosophies, I focus on building the foundations of health, restoring balance in the body, and empowering patients to connect with their own innate power to heal. The educator in me is guided by the Naturopathic principle of docere, or “doctor as teacher,” and teach patients ways to connect with their physical, emotional, and spiritual selves. By developing this increased awareness of our physical and emotional states, I see that patients are able to actively participate in their healing process. Patients can expect to receive an individualized and unique set of gentle and minimally invasive recommendations which incorporate the healing power of food, herbs, movement, water, touch, and homeopathy.

Areas of Focus

My particular expertise is in brain and cognitive health, digestive health, mental health, chronic illness and metabolic issues such as diabetes. Being part of a team, whose foundation is rooted in an integrative approach and working with other practitioners for optimal health of our communities is my dream. I am honored to be joining MD Integrative Wellness and look forward to building healthier families and communities together.
